Adolf Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria, on April 20, 1889. He was a resentful, moody, lazy discontented child of unstable temperament. He left school at the age of sixteen with dreams of becoming a painter.

In May 1913 Hitler left Vienna and went to Munich, when the war broke out in August 1914 he joined the Sixteenth Bavarian Infantry Regiment, serving as a despatch runner. He was wounded twice and temporarily blinded. Hitler spent four weeks before the end of the war in the hospital of Pomerania due to being badly gassed. He was sent to investigate a small group of idealists called the German Workers' Party. On1919 he entered the party and soon changed its name to the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP), he imposed himself as its Chairman by July 1921.

Hitler awakened feelings, desires, fears and underground instincts that simple propaganda could not achieve. By November 1921 Hitler was recognized as Fuhrer of a movement, which had 3,000 members. Out of these groups like the
storm troopers (SA) and Hitler's black-shirted personal bodyguard, the Schutzstaffel (SS) were created. Together with General Ludendorff after trying the overthrow the Bavarian government in Munich (1923), Hitler was arrested. With a confident, propagandist speech in February 26, 1924 he turned the tables on his accusers and was released after only nine months which he dedicated to Mein Kampf (My Struggle).

In 1933 he was elected Chancellor of Germany. He studied Benito Mussolini, his idol on how to install a fascist government; soon Hitler was dictator of Germany. Due to the fact that Hitler thought the country needed more space they took over part of Czechoslovakia. On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland and World War II began. Hitler formed an alliance with the Axis Powers of Japan and Italy. By March of 1945 the Allies had defeated much of the German army. On April 30, 1945 Hitler committed suicide.

“Hitler was responsible for some of the most horrible crimes committed in human history. He hated Jewish people and wanted to exterminate them from Germany. He forced Jewish people to go to concentration camps where 6 million Jews were killed during World War II. He also had other people and races he didn't like killed including handicapped people.” (Ducksters)
